Here is a simulation that was developed with funds from the USA National Science Foundation (NSF). Currently Global Warming Interactive (GWI) has only one country, Brazil, but the developers hope to receive additional funding from NSF to develop the simulation with multiple countries. How could it be used with students? Are there other simulations that you would recommend?
GWI provides for three roles: science adviser, policy adviser, and economic adviser. It assumes a "leader" since the other three roles are advising someone. You might even assume other roles: citizens who react to the results of decisions, reporters who write articles about the events; researchers who gather information to help with decision making. The roles are endless and could parallel the 21st century literacies and skills students need to develop. What do you think?
